The Tiger & Me and The Nymphs join forces to present a very special collaboration exploring a broad range of genres from 40s swing to contemporary pop, showcasing their versatility and style. Featuring a set from each band, followed by a collaborative set, the show was debuted recently at The Toff in Town, Melbourne, with one reviewer stating, “Every song through the whole night was fantastic, I honestly could not fault either bands’ performance and I genuinely felt it was one of the best shows I’ve seen in Melbourne in a long time…” (www.whatsoundmelbourne.com)
Described by Inpress Magazine as “Cabaret/Circus/Euro Indie Folk-Pop Wunderkinds”, Melbourne five-piece The Tiger & Me weave a rare mixture of styles as three lead vocalists exchange and merge tunes from whispered ballad to fevered maelstrom. Driven by keys, bass and drums, the band also draws on guitars, ukulele, accordion, violin and five voices.
The Nymphs work harmony like nobody’s business. The Melbourne-based vocal quartet combine influences of 40s jazz, 50s swing and early 60s pop to create their unique sound. Add to this a dash of matching vintage glamour and you get something akin to The Andrew Sisters drinking single malt with Tom Waits at a late night blues bar.
