The Return of The Voodoo Sheiks

Featuring JOE CAMILLERI & JOHN McALL

From the land of Privateers and Voodoo Queens comes The Return of The Voodoo Sheiks – a big band that plays with muscle and mojo. Australian music greats Joe Camilleri and John McAll lead this old school Rhythm and Blues big band that explores the blues side of jazz as it mixes up a brew of Louis Jordan and Stray Cats with a bit of mystery that’ll have you hoofin’ the afternoon away.

So you missed all those swinging Big Band sounds, the zoot suits and pegged pants of the 1940’s? Still hoping to have somewhere to wear that Victory Roll and pencil skirt? Need someplace nearby to show off your swing dance moves with all the coolest cats and hottest kittens ? Well, The Caravan Club is the place to be. It’s your honky tonk away from home. It’s your very own Savoy. It’s a Speak-easy where you can take it easy. Oakleigh has never been cooler.

Think Cab Calloway, Louis Jordan, Brian Setzer Orchestra, Kid Creole & The Coconuts, Blue Rondo A La Turk, Screaming Jay Hawkins, Slim Gailliard, Royal Crown Revue and the Stray Cats. Now, stop thinking, and book a table, not that you’ll be doin’ much sittin’ down.

So get on the Voodoo Train when Joe Camilleri and John McCall head into town. It’s stopping all stations ‘til Elsternwick, when the Voodoo Sheiks and their cast of thousands light up your Sunday afternoon for a sweet soiree of swingin’ sounds.
