Stephen Pigram – "WANDERER" Album Launch

We are very pleased to have Broome's favourite musical Son - Stephen Pigram perform in Oakleigh on the Caravan Club stage. With special guest: GALLIE.

STEPHEN PIGRAM “WANDERER”

“Songs are out there somewhere – sometimes so close you can’t focus on ‘em, sometimes so far you gotta go hunting for ‘em- as long you don’t make too much racket that you scare ‘em away. Maybe you snare a piece of song and the other bit gets away – handy then to have a little holding cell for limbo songs that may complete themselves one day…”  Stephen Pigram

At last, enlisting the aid of old friend and producer Kerryn Tolhurst (who produced the “JIIR” album for Broome’s Pigram Brothers) ten new songs comprise Stephen’s first solo venture, the “WANDERER” CD.  In addition to Stephen’s vocals, guitar and ukelele performances, this bluesy/folk album features cameos by guest musicians including Jim Conway, Alan Pigram, Lucky Oceans, Broderick Smith and Kerryn Tolhurst.

The “Never Ending Album Launch Tour” kicks off in Broome on March 22nd.

From Australia’s far northwest Kimberley region, singer/songwriter/musician Stephen Pigram is probably best known for his work with his six musical brothers in Broome’s much loved Pigram Brothers band and the ‘saltwater country’ style of music they deliver.  He was a member of the pioneering bands Kuckles and Scrap Metal, and was musical director for the original production of the first Aboriginal musical “Bran Nue Dae”. In 2006, Stephen and brother Alan were inducted into the West Australian Music Industry Hall of Fame, the first indigenous artists to receive this honour.  Stephen played a major role in the development and production of the recent Australian film “Mad Bastards” as both producer and composer. He has been touring as a featured artist with the Black Armband ensemble, and the Australian Chamber Orchestra for their 2012/13 production “The Reef”.

2013 sees the release of Stephen’s first solo album, “Wanderer”.
