DOM TURNER (Backsliders) is teaming up as a duo with harmonica vertuoso PHIL WIGGINS (USA) launching their first CD called "Owing The Devil A Days Work". Their tour has been receiving rave reviews with sold out shows, and we are so pleased that they are bringing their only Melbourne show to Caravan Club this Friday. UNMISSABLE

“Turner is Australia’s blues God, with his collection of slide guitars and impeccable proficiency, he and Wiggins, one of the worlds greatest harmonica players and the best from Washington D.C, together played a stripped back set that enticed even the youngest of children in the crowd…” Blue Mountains Folk Festival review 2015

Arguably America’s foremost harmonica virtuoso, Phil Wiggins, first met, shared stages and became friends with Dom Turner in the late 1980’s on the first ‘Cephas & Wiggins’ Australian tour and have had a mutual musical appreciation ever since. Guitarist / Vocalist, Dom Turner is well-known for his almost 3 decades of work with one of Australia’s leading blues acts, Backsliders.  Together they are launching their new acclaimed album at the Caravan Club in March.

The duo performed a series of East Coast USA concerts in June 2014, and featured at the Great Southern Blues Festival in Narooma, Australia, their first formal collaborations and included set-lists packed with Piedmont, Delta, & Hill Country blues from artists such as Skip James, Robert Johnson and Lead Belly as well as original songs.

Phil Wiggins born in Washington, D.C., and began his musical career with some of Washington’s leading blues artists, including the locally noted slide guitarist and gospel singer Flora Molton. Phil is most well-known for his partnership with legendary guitarist & vocalist John Cephas. The WC Handy award winning duo toured the world as ‘Cephas & Wiggins’ playing every continent except Antarctica for over 30 years. Aside from his masterful harmonica playing, Phil is also a gifted songwriter and teacher and has managed and presented workshops across the US and internationally.

Dom Turner is best known for nearly 30 years of writing, recording and touring with the renowned Australian blues group, ‘Backsliders’ Dom’s blues influences are many and varied, a blend of delta blues, Hill Country and Piedmont styles played finger-style on 6-string and 12-string acoustic and resonator guitars.
