JVG's GRANDFINAL-EVE PIE NIGHT

The 5th Annual Grand Final Eve Pie Night at the Caravan Music Club is a night for footy fans and it’s a night for those who tend to wander in and out of the TV room on grand final day. It’s about the hoopla more than the game itself. It’s more than a gig. It’s theatre and cabaret. It’s a pie night. It’s a review. It’s an occasion. It’s CULTURE!! Feat. BILLY MILLER, REBECCA BARNARD, PAUL STEWART, IAN BLAND, CHARLES JENKINS & Essendon's AFL Football Legend SIMON MADDEN (& yes, he CAN sing!), along with the JVG ALL-STAR BAND.

Grand final weekend is a high point on Melbourne’s cultural calendar. Whether you like footy or not you can’t escape it so you may as well embrace it. Not necessarily the game itself but the carnival feel of the weekend.

On grand final day you’ll inevitably end up at someone’s house. A BBQ will be sssssizzling, the telly will be on and the talk will be equal parts football and bullshit. Even if you don’t know anything about footy you’ll be compelled to pontificate.

You may not watch the whole game because you don’t really care so much, but you’ll still be swept up in the occasion. You may not care for Bruce McAvaney’s tedious stats. There are very few of us who do. You may spend half the day in the kitchen or in the backyard. But it’ll still be good just to be in Melbourne on grand final day.

The city stops for the game. The city is alive and dead at the same time. It’s a day when everything feels different. It’s a day when Melbourne smells great.

And that’s why you can’t stay at home on grand final eve. There’s tension in the air and you need to go out and shake it up a bit.

It’s not surprising that folk have flocked to the Caravan Music Club on grand final eve over the last 5 years. It’s because it goes off. It’s a celebration of the grand final weekend with some great music, cold beer and hot pies.

An all singing, all dancing bone crunching collision of sport and music.

JVG has invited new choirmasters (and old rockers) Billy Miller and Rebecca Barnard, along with the JVG Allstar band, they will be joined by Paul Stewart, Ian Bland, Charles Jenkins and & Essendon’s AFL Football Legend SIMON MADDON (& yes, he CAN sing!).

Billy is in a monumental battle with Supreme Leader Andrew Demetriou over the headline footy/superstar act as we speak, so the surprise guest can’t be announced just yet . . .
